PHOTO FINISH/ELECTRONIC TIMING
SCAA now has its own Photo Finish / Electronic Timing equipment.
See article below.
At the Annual General Meeting held on 15th March 2002 changes to the
SCAA Constitution were approved.
revised constitution.
PHOTO FINISH/ELECTRONIC TIMING
Many of you will know that Surrey County Athletic Association were
given a grant by the London Marathon Trust to purchase Photo
Finish/Electronic Timing equipment for use at various tracks. We can now
report that the equipment has been delivered and a training course and
demonstration given. More importantly the equipment was set up and used
very successfully for the first time at the recent Kingston
AC/Polytechnic Harriers open meeting at Kingsmeadow. All the track
results for the afternoon were electronic. A great step forward for a
club sponsored meeting.
Looking ahead it is intended to use the equipment on an experimental
basis (we are still learning to use it) at the Surrey Championships at
Kingsmeadow on the 11 and 12 May. There will be normal manual timing
present but wherever possible times given will be from the electronic
readout.
Any clubs who would like to use the Photo Finish at their meeting are
invited to make contact with Michael Scott (Tel: 01932 343108) to
discuss its use and fitting at the arena.
Also if any individuals are interested becoming skilled in the
installation and use of the equipment they are also invited to call
Michael Scott. To make full use of this new tool will need a number of
'operators' if we are all to obtain the most benefit from the system. |
