Shot and Discus Workshops Sunday 20th January at the Xcel Sports Hub, Walton from 2pm – 5pm

This session will be purely practical with lead coaches helping coaches to look at how they coach and to problem solve any issues. Therefore it is imperative that all coaches attending bring along at least one but preferably two athletes they coach to this session.

Please book your space by 10th January

High Jump Workshop Sunday 27th January at the David Weir Leisure Centre from 10am - 1pm

Di Norman, who I’m sure most of you know is a very experienced multi event athlete and coach. The 3 hour workshop will be both practical and presentation based to provide you as coaches with additional skills and knowledge to help you with your development. The intention is to run the workshop in the morning time to be confirmed ASAP.

Please book by 13th January

Long and Triple Jump Workshops Sunday 10th March at David Weir Leisure Centre, Sutton 12 noon - 3pm

The session will be led by John Sheppard who I’m sure most of you know, along with Mentors from the programme. This workshop will be a more practical session incorporating the use of the indoor pits and would therefore benefit from Mentees bringing along one or two athletes so John can see how you coach.

Please book 1st February for the 10th March workshop.

Hammer Workshops 16th March at The Weir Archer Athletics & Fitness Centre, Kingsmeadow, from 9am – 11.30am

Gareth Cook will lead the practical session and I’m waiting to hear from Rob Earle, UKA Throws lead if he can come to the March workshop to provide additional input  to cover: Coaching interventions and strategies,  Functional movement /  Movement efficiency, Identifying physical limitations that could inhibit performance  and Developing practical coaching concepts relevant to a club environment, to the sessions. Please be aware that Gareth will also be coaching his athletes at the same time which will provide coaches with a chance to see club to international level athletes training,

Please book your place by 10th March.

Shot and Discus Strength and Conditioning Workshop Saturday 23rd March at Kingston Track 2pm - 5pm

Jade Lally will be taking coaches through the exercises which will help them to plan their athletes S&C sessions. This will be a very practical session that will demonstrate to coaches the best way to get the most out of the S&C programme. The intention is for coaches, where possible to take part themselves so there will not be space for athletes to attend this one.

Please book your space on this workshop by 1st March

Camilla Thrush, SCAA Mentor Programme Co-Ordinator hopes that all Surrey clubs will encourage your coaches to take up the offer to attend the workshops for the benefit of your athletes and coaches development.
